If We Like How It Looks, We'll Probably Wear It.
Jenrobinson
There's actually an incredibly practical reason for orthotists and prosthetists to take their patients’ aesthetic concerns into consideration. If we like how the device looks, there’s more of a chance that we’ll use it. Sure, there are some limits to what orthotics and prosthetists can do, and individuals using the devices need to be somewhat realistic. But the most simple detail, like giving a little girl leg braces in her favorite color, can transform the fitting experience. It makes it personalized and provides the device user with some choices. The little girl may not have a choice as to whether she has to wear the leg braces, but she can choose the color they come in.
Simple Options:
-
Transferring designs into plastics to be used in braces and prosthetics.
-
Adding stickers to the hard surfaces of devices
-
Straps that vary in color
-
Custom fiber lamination in various colors and designs, designs from fabrics and T-Shirts
-
Laminating photographs into prosthetic sockets and leg braces
These simple steps make giant leaps towards user acceptance and successful fitting outcomes.
