Philadelphia Collar

The Philadelphia Collar was developed in 1971 and named by an orthotist in Philadelphia. The brace is a semi-rigid plastazote two-piece collar consisting of an occipital piece and a chin support extending to the sternal area. The brace is secured with Velcro. The orthosis limits flexion and extension of the cervical spine. In some cases where the thoracic spine is involved, the Philadelphia Collar with thoracic extension can be used effectively.
