2-time X Games Gold Medalist Chris Ridgway successfully defended his title as Limb-Loss Motocross Champion during the 5th annual Extremity Games (eX5) at Baja Acres motocross facility in Millington, Michigan, May 29, 2010.
Over Memorial Day weekend, Chris Ridgway won his 4th consecutive Gold Medal at the Extremity Games Motocross event. The win did not come easy as “Ridge” banged bars with familiar eX5 competitors like professional snocross racer “Monster” Mike Schultz and X Games Silver Medalist Jim Wazny. New to the Extremity Games roster were West-Coast racers Todd Thompson and Beau Meier who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
In the Limb Difference class, returning X Games Gold and Extremity Games Bronze medalist Sampie Erasmus took gold, and newcomers Shane Shipley and Nick Pappas took Silver and Bronze, respectively.
“Extremity Games has seen amazing growth over the last 5 years”, said eX5 Executive Director Beth Taylor. “This year we have had a lot of returning athletes, but a lot of new riders as well.”
In partnership with Adaptive Action Sports, Extremity Games served as the qualifier for the Moto X Super X Adaptive races at the ESPN® Summer X Games 16. Newcomer Todd Thompson won the X Games qualifier in the Limb-Loss class followed by Mike Schultz in 2nd, Beau Meier 3rd, Dave Turner 4th and Jim Wazny 5th. South African favorite Sampie Erasmus won the X Games Qualifier in Limb-Difference followed by Shane Shipley in 2nd, Jesse Gildea 3rd, Ranel Cox 4th and Darius Glover 5th. The Super X Adaptive Finals will be televised on ESPN in late July/early August.
