Prosthetic appearance and self-esteem are of paramount concern

For many women, appearance of a prosthesis and self-esteem as an amputee are paramount concerns.
Fashion trends and gender stereotyping encourage slimmer designed clothing, sheer fabrics, pantyhose, high-heeled shoes, etc. Good quality cosmetic solutions are limited by the nature of many of the components’ bulky and generic design. This forces women frequently to choose between function and fashion.
In many cases for the above knee AK amputee, the only choice of cosmetic is to decorate the prosthetic socket.
